Welcome to Goondir Health Services’ Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), a community-focused initiative designed to help our elders maintain their independence, health, and connection to community.
What is CHSP?
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme provides entry-level aged care services tailored to support seniors in their homes. It’s about empowering you to live confidently and independently while staying connected with your loved ones and community.
Who is Eligible?
CHSP is available for:
- Australians aged 65 and over (or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).
- People on a low income, who are homeless or are at risk of being homeless can access CHSP services if they are aged 50 years and older (45 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples).
- Individuals assessed as eligible by the Regional Assessment Service (RAS).
Our Services
Goondir Health Services offers a variety of CHSP services designed to enhance your quality of life, including:
- Transport Services: Assistance with travel to medical appointments, shopping, or community activities.
- Domestic Assistance: Help with household chores like cleaning and laundry.
- Home Maintenance: Support with minor repairs, yard work, and safety inspections at home.
- Meals: Nutritious meals delivered to your doorstep or help with meal preparation.
- Nursing Care: Clinical care such as wound management and health monitoring.
- Social Support (Individual & Group): Opportunities for companionship, group activities, and community engagement.

Domestic Assistance
- Unaccompanied Shopping (delivered to home)
• General House Cleaning
• Cleaning kitchen, benches, appliances;
• Sweeping and mopping floors. Bathroom
• Cleaning shower, bath, basin, toilet;
• Mopping and drying floor. Bedrooms and living areas
• Changing sheets and making the bed;
• Dusting furniture, vacuuming floors. Laundry
• Doing washing, hanging out or bringing in when dry;

Social Support
- Visiting your home to spend time together, having a cup of tea and a chat or playing a game.
• Help you to shop for food or other things.
• Support you to find groups with similar interests to you, such as bingo or hobby group.
• Take you to visit friends or family that live nearby.
• Attend appointments.
• Attend church.
• Go on outings.
• Attend activities in our centre
• Accompanied activities e.g. shopping, movies, swimming
• Regular phone/online contact
• Home visits
• One-on-one support – getting to and from social activities, home visits, bill paying and banking;
• Group outings – being linked to a social group organised by KinCare, such as day trips, movie and theatre, shows, garden lovers, coffee club, scenic drives, lunch or dinner;
• Online – social connection with others through messaging, online forums, games, Skype and more. You can use your own device, or we can supply you with a KinCare provided easy-to-use tablet to safely and securely connect with family and friends from the comfort of your own home;
• Finding new activities – if you’re not sure what you want to do, or what’s available locally. We can help you locate new activities to participate in.

• Accompanied activities e.g. shopping, movies, swimming
• Have a chat, have a coffee, or play a game
• Exercise classes e.g. swimming, walking, seated exercises

Transport
- Get to medical appointments
• Visit a health professional such as a podiatrist or optometrist
• Shop for food at the local shopping centre

• Simply getting out of the house
• Direct (driver is volunteer or worker)
• Indirect (through vouchers or subsidies)
