Goondir Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Corporation for Health Services is a community controlled health service providing health services to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of the Eastern Section of Goolburri ATSIC Region.

Goondir employs up to forty staff and covers a service area of approximately 240,000 square kilometer servicing 7,000 plus clients.  The complex and diverse services offered by Goondir are made possible by the dedication and commitment of all staff.  Since opening in 1994,  the organisation (which is incorporated under the Aboriginal Councils and Association Act 1976) has grown in-size and the demand for health services is continually expanding. 

Services offered at Goondir are unique and tailored with sensitivity to the Indigenous culture so that Indigenous Australians from the Region access our services and enjoy good health and well-being.  Goondir Health Services promotes early intervention and prevention and actively delivers such programs. 

Goondir have expanded their hours of service to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The after hours care service ensures that culturally appropriate medical services are available to community members at all times.  This demonstrates Goondir’s commitment to meeting the needs of our community.

Goondir Health Services is a member of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS). ACCHS represents the health interests of Aboriginal communities at the state level, which is in turn a member of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (NACCHO). NACCHO provides the link between ACCHS and the Commonwealth Government and is the national peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health body. It represents the health interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities at the national level.

The Service is managed from Dalby with clinics in Dalby and St. George. A Health Service is also provided by Health Workers situated at the Miles and Oakey Hospitals.
