Hearing Health screenings carried out at the clinic consist of these age groups:
0 – 5 Years School children Adults
The tests include: OTOSCOPY – Where the health worker does a visual examination of the ear with an otoscope. TYMPANOMETRY – Is a test of the middle ear function. The equipment used is a tympanometer. AUDIOMETRY- This test actually measures how well the child/person can hear.
Screenings are also carried out in the schools, where hearing health workers arrange suitable dates and times for their visits. If required, children receive follow up treatment and if necessary they are referred on to the appropriate specialists. The Audiologist from the Australian Hearing Service in Toowoomba visits Goondir Health several times a year. The children/adults are screened in the clinic first and if there are problems detected they are then referred on to the Audiologist.
Should you need a basic hearing health screening, contact Goondir Health Service on: 07 4662 6199 to arrange an appointment with the receptionists.
