The asthma project services at Goondir Health cover the areas of Dalby, Oakey, Miles, Tara and St George. Asthma assessments and education are available covering a wide range of topics that may be of concern. These include asthma triggers, delivery device usage and the Asthma action plans which aims to guide asthmatics to stay well controlled and gives them treatment to follow when their asthma is deteriorating.
The GP will prepare asthma action plans for clients, then the client can utilise the asthma project in areas where they require further education and understanding, for example how to recognise that their asthma symptoms are getting worse and what to do to get their asthma well controlled again. These plans also cover what to do in an emergency situation.
Spirometry is a measurement used to assist in knowing whether someone has asthma or not, and these lung function tests are included in the service provided by the asthma project.
Anyone is welcome and it is hoped that as many people as possible will access the service with the overall aim of decreasing hospitalisations due to asthma .
